There are many reasons for this, including protecting the goods from sunlight and UV. It also protects the bottle from accidental glass damage. It also can make the bottle unique and personalised with stampings and engravings that endure the test of time against natural weather elements.
The technique to achieve this with Diggars Mate still involves the ancient art of leather wrapping by hand. Carefully and skillfully each bottle is crafted locally on the Mornington Peninsula. As a result, each bottle is unique with its perfect imperfections.
